Persevering through a period of personal struggle, Sarrenna emerged more resolute and equipped with an unflinching collection of tracks detailing her experience. Initially recorded as a stark yet stunning acoustic suite, the difficult subject matter was assuaged by the native East Tennessean's raspy vocals and supple guitarwork.

Now, reinforced with a full backing band and given lush studio treatment, these songs have been transformed from tempered heartbroken laments into empowered kiss-off anthems fortified with rich instrumentation and resonant harmonies. The already tuneful material is newly robust and exhibits noticeably more venom, which better complements the incisive wit inherent in the artist's confessional lyrics and more effectively amplifies the themes of emancipation, connectivity and healing located therein.

Finding both solace and inspiration in the works of luminous peers like Madi Diaz, Julia Jacklin and Laura Marling, Sarrenna has embarked upon the path toward self-actualization through the fabrication of her own dynamic music – a distinctive tapestry of genres and influences that recalls classic country, Americana and indie rock in equal measure. It is the burgeoning performer's stated goal to provide similar refuge for anyone who feels alone, dissociated or small in the presence of others.

Sarrenna, cofounder and former member of the Americana folk duo Guy Marshall (2011-2022), has performed regionally at notable events such as Bristol Rhythm N Roots, Whispering Beard Fest (IN), White Squirrel Fest (NC), and Rhythm N Blooms (TN). With new solo project, she has recently performed at venues including the Bluebird Cafe (Nashville), The Evening Muse (Charlotte), and the Dogwood Arts Festival (Knoxville), and will return this fall to play Bristol Rhythm N Roots with a full band.

The last year or so has been a whirlwind for Sarenna, who went from stepping out as a solo artist for the first time to establishing herself as a go-to booking both locally and regionally to earning deserved notoriety for her heart-on-sleeve songwriting. As she takes on even more high-profile gigs, including an opening slot for Joan Osborne July 15 at the Bijou, the indie firebrand seems poised for even greater exposure and success. She will be accompanied by country up-and-comer Lazarus Lake and a Cincinnati singer-songwriter formerly known as Maria Keck.

If you know, you know. This musician is stepping into her own in a way that's majestic, with a sound that'll make you stop what you're doing and pay close damn attention.
And if you don't know ... well, you ain't ready. Because we promise, Sarrenna is gonna make some Waynestock magic that you won't soon forget, and in a few months and years from now when the whole damn town is talking about her, you can brag that you saw her way back when.
And you can tell all your friends who will be just as gobsmacked then as you will be on Thursday night that, yep, she's the real deal, a country singer who's more "Fist City" than pop, who can tackle just about any damn genre she sets her mind to because that voice ... that voice is going to blow you away.
